Sealed bids for the following project will be received by the Purchasing Office of the city of Ruston, Louisiana, located at the Ruston Public Works Complex, Administration Building, 701 East Tennessee Avenue, Ruston, Louisiana 71270, either by mail or hand delivery, no later than 2:00 p.m. local time on Friday, August 26, 2016 at which time the bids will be publicly opened and read aloud. Bids received after the 2:00 p.m. deadline will be returned to the bidder unopened.

Local couple celebrates 68th wedding anniversary

Melvin and Wilnora Harris, along with their family, recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary at Landry’s Seafood. The couple were married June 13, 1948.
They have four children, 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.

Hearn, Fish join in marriage

Lauren Amanda Hearn, of Ruston, and Joshua Matthew Fish, of Minden, were united in holy matrimony at 5 p.m. July 30 at Temple Baptist Church.

The double ring ceremony was officiated by Dr. Reggie Bridges.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Hearn Jr., of Ruston. She is the granddaughter of Dr. and Mrs. Robert E. Hearn Sr., of Ruston; and the late Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Stewart.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andy Fish. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Mangrum, of Sibley; Mr. and Mrs. Freddie Smart, of Sibley; and the late Mr. and Mrs. Bill Fish.

Rowland, Meyers wed at Cook Baptist Church

Darby Nicole Rowland, of Dubach, and Jefferson Edward Meyers, of Ruston, were united in holy matrimony at 7 p.m. July 29 at Cook Baptist Church.

The double ring ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Mike Mitchell.

The bride is the daughter of Devery and Jeanie Rowland. She is the granddaughter of Don and Joan Jacks, of Dubach; and the late Larkin and Glendia Rowland.

The groom is the son of Billy and Shannon Meyers. He is the grandson of Tim and Cathy Mitchell, of Mer Rouge; Gracie Hall, of Shreveport; and William and Lois Meyers, of Bastrop.

July 14, 2016,
Lincoln Parish Waterworks District # 3 of Ruston, Louisiana met in a regular meeting on this date. The commissioners present were, Mr. Jack Allen president, Mr. G.W. Kimble, Mr. Ralph McVay, Mr. Randy Snow, & Mr. Willard Anderson. Also present were Mr. Chris Harris, manager and office employees Mrs. Diane Gibson and Ms. Adina Murphey.
Mr. Allen opened the meeting with prayer.
Mr. Allen presented the agenda for adoption. Mr. Snow made a motion to adopt the agenda as printed. Mr. Kimble seconded the motion and it was carried.
