THE GRAMBLING City Council will hold a Public Hearing and a Special Call Meeting Thursday, February 21, 2013, at 5:30 p.m. at Grambling City Police Department, 2045 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, Grambling, Louisiana for the purpose of the following:
Adopt Ordinance for the Funding of Revenue Bonds
Proclamation
Any other pertinent matter brought before the council.

Pamela Wall Ledford

Pamela Wall Ledford, 60, of Lake Mary, Florida, passed away peacefully and gracefully after a lengthy illness while surrounded by her family on February 8, 2013. A devoted wife of 38 years and an exceptional mother, she left an indelible stamp on everyone she knew and encountered.

Pam loved her family and friends. Always interested in people, she never met a stranger. She thrived in her roles as friend, leader, confidant, encourager, colleague, mentor, “soccer mom for life” to adopted players, and photographer. Pam’s strength, kindness and love to all will continue to inspire us as.

Filling an important need

Peach Tree Dental provides free treatments

An even 100 area residents braved chilly weather and prevented a bite from being taken out of their wallets early Saturday morning as they attended Peach Tree Dental’s sixth annual Dentistry from the Heart event.
The event provided people in need, including those without dental insurance, the choice between a tooth filling, tooth extraction or teeth cleaning at no charge. Tracey Brown, project manager for Peach Tree said $20,000 worth of services were provided on the day.

Seminar on preventing abuse of elderly set for Wednesday

When many think of domestic abuse, incidences of emotional and physical violence between intimate partners are more common.
Although some may feel the volatile situation is more prevalent between two adults, most acknowledge there are negative consequences that affect the children who are also involved.
However, domestic abuse is not limited to those in an immediate family situation, but also occurs amongst another of society’s most vulnerable demographic — senior citizens.

Annual MOD Crawfish boil on tap

Northeast Louisiana ranks highest in the nation for premature births. Furthermore, in Lincoln and Ouachita parishes, one in four babies are born premature each year.
If the idea of live music, silent auction items to peruse and a huge pile of crawfish isn’t enough to get people to Community Trust Bank on March 15, the fact that the entire event is to help babies might just do the trick.

Question: My husband started his own small business a few years ago. It is really struggling now. I don’t really understand the business; I just know it is eating him alive. He is so afraid the business will fail. I keep telling him that if we have to start over, we’ll be OK, but he’s losing sleep and I worry that it is affecting his health.
