Food Drive
All classes at Grambling High School were involved with the Holiday Canned Food Drive sponsored by GHS Student Council. Canned goods were donated by each class. Donations were gathered for the North Louisiana Food bank.

GUNAA awards scholarships

The Ruston Chapter of Grambling University National Alumni Association scholarship committee has awarded two recipients for a total of $1,000 in book scholarships for the 2013 School Year.
To be eligible for the scholarships, recipients must be a first-time undergraduate student enrolled at Grambling State University, hold a cumulative high school GPA of 2.5 or higher, demonstrate good character, citizenship, dependability and financial need.

English classes study China, students honored

Conner’s English classes
Mrs. Conner’s English classes would like to thank Michael Bishop’s grandfather for coming to speak to them. The English classes read a novel titled “Chinese Cinderella.” The book is about a young girl who grew up in China during the time of French concessions, World War II and the communist takeover.

He’s listed in the official 2012-13 basketball guide at Louisiana Tech University weighing 160 pounds.

Techsters tripped

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. ­­— Lulu Perry scored 14 points and Whitney Frazier added 11 points, but Arkansas-Little Rock used a 14-0 run midway through the first half to pull away for a 74-52 win over Louisiana Tech Wednesday night at the Jack Stephens Center.
UALR (14-7), which entered the game ranked in the top five in the country in defense, held the Lady Techsters (9-11) to only 32 percent shooting (19-60) from the field while outrebounding Tech 48-35. The Trojans also recorded 11 blocked shots in the game.

’Dogs have C-USA slate lined up

Louisiana Tech’s inaugural Conference USA football slate has been set and the Bulldogs’ first league game will be on Sept. 14 against in-state rival Tulane at Joe Aillet Stadium, as the league announced its 2013 composite schedule Wednesday.
Tulane will make its first trip to Ruston to face the Bulldogs since 1911 on Sept. 14. The two in-state teams have not faced each other since the 1998 season when the Green Wave was ranked 11th in the nation. Tulane was 2-10 last year in Curtis Johnson’s first year as head coach.

Approval of LCDBG West College Avenue Project
