Gray team wins Tech Fall World Series

The Gray team scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to take the lead and series with a 4-2 win over the Black team in Game 7 of this year’s Fall World Series finale Sunday at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park.
With the game tied at 1-1 going into the bottom half of the seventh, an RBI single by Bo Parker scored Lain Kranz from second base to take a 2-1 lead. Kimbell followed up with a bases loaded single to left field to plate two more runs and gave Gray a 4-1 lead after seven complete innings.

GSU QB earns national honors

Grambling quarterback Johnathan Williams has been named Boxtorow National Player of the Week.
Williams, a junior from Tampa, Fla., accounted for 319 yards and all seven of Grambling’s touchdowns in the Tigers 47-40 victory over Mississippi Valley State.
He completed 18 of 31 passing for 265 yards and five touchdowns and rushed for 54 yards and touchdowns from five and 11 yards out..
Williams will be featured on www.boxtorow.com as Boxtorow National Player of the Week.

U’Lawnda R. Lewis

U’Lawnda R. Lewis, age 40 of Snellville, GA went to be with her Lord and Savior November 1, 2013. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jacqueline Duncan and is survived by her loving husband of 10 years, Ronnie Lewis, Sr.; daughter, Presley Quinn Lewis and son, Ronnie Lewis, Jr. all of Snellville; step son, Nicholas Lewis, step daughters, Taevia Lewis and Sydney Lewis; father and step mother, Adolph and Gail Cofield; grandmother, Mary Wilson; 2 brothers, 1 sister and many loving family and friends.

TOWN OF DUBACH
REGULAR MEETING OF TOWN COUNCIL The Town Council of Dubach, Louisiana met in Regular Session Monday, October 21, 2013 at 6:30 pm at the Town Hall.
Present were Honorable Robert Jensen Mayor, and Council members Vallie Carrico, Robert Colvin, Hattie Graham, Davie Powell, Donna Lewis and Victoria Axton with the Ruston Daily Leader.
Absent: Justina Hensley attending LA Municipal Clerks Institute in Baton Rouge, LA receiving her
2nd level Master Municipal Clerk.
Citizens attended: NONE
The Meeting opened with Pledge of Allegiance and Invocation by Davie Powell.

The City of Grambling announces that an application for FY 2014 - FY 2015 Louisiana Community Development Block Grant (LCDBG) public facilities funds will be submitted for the following:
ACTIVITY: LCDBG funds will be used to make new sewer collection.
OBJECTIVE: To principally benefit low and moderate income persons.
LOCATION: The target area consists of the northern part of the city.
AMOUNT: $789,795.00 new sewer collection
9,600.00 acquisition
$799,395.00 total to be requested (LCDBG)

Flapjack event to help area residents

Eating pancakes can help raise funds for the area’s needy residents.
A Flapjack Fundraiser is scheduled from 8-10 a.m. Saturday, by the Zeta Rho chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha. The women’s philanthropic group will use the funds to help area residents at Christmastime.
The breakfast will be held at the Ruston Applebee’s restaurant. Tickets cost $5.
Event chair Alice Byrnes said the group will aid families who don’t qualify for any public programs or whose needs are not known by area clearinghouses.
“Come out and enjoy a short stack for a tall cause,” Byrnes said.

No charter school in Lincoln

It turns out that Lincoln Parish will not be getting a charter school, despite receiving the first ever application for one earlier this year.
After a public hearing, during which no one offered any comments, Lincoln Parish School Board members voted unanimously — with the exception of Curtis Dowling who was absent — to deny the application for Success Academy Prep based on the suggestion of independent third party evaluating company New Millennium Education.

Man arrested for crack cocaine

At 2:42 p.m. Tuesday the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office, along with the Lincoln Parish Narcotics Enforcement Team arrested one man for distribution of crack cocaine.
Gregory Dewayne Scott, 42, of 115 Maple St. in Grambling was arrested on U.S. Highway 80 East on four counts of distribution of crack cocaine. The total bond $30,000 while the bond is not set for one of the distribution charges.
