New Tech seniors present Crusades video games

Seniors in the New Tech @ Ruston World Studies class recently presented their “Crescent vs Cross” projects at Louisiana Tech University’s Memorial Gym.
With the project developed by teachers Tara Griffin and Stephen Ehrhard, the students were challenged to answer the question “How can we, as game designers, create a video game that accurately and entertainingly illustrates how the Crusades cemented systems of belief and the effects of the Crusades on society and culture?”

Bulldogs blast Centenary, 106-59

It was a night for celebration for the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs basketball team Wednesday before a crowd of 3,942 at the Thomas Assembly Center.
Not only did things tip off with a pregame ring ceremony and banner unveiling in honor of the 2012-13 Western Athletic Conference regular season championship, but the Tech kept the party rolling in its first home game as a new member of Conference USA as the Bulldogs blew past Centenary 106-59.

Lady Techsters sign four basketball players

Louisiana Tech head coach Teresa Weatherspoon announced Wednesday that the Lady Techster basketball program has signed four high school prep stars to National Letters of Intent on day No. 1 of the early signing period.
Tech received signed NLI’s from guards Daja Chase (Monroe/Ouachita HS), Tiffany Murdock (Malvern, Ark./Malvern HS) and Candice Williams (Atlanta, Ga./St. Francis HS) and forward Tiara Davenport (Duncanville, Texas/Duncanville HS).

Bearcats baseball trio ink NLIs

Three Ruston High School baseball players decided on their next steps on the road to the future Thursday morning as they each signed National Letters of Intent to play for the colleges of their choice.
Pitcher David Michael Burkhalter signed with Louisiana-Monroe while home is where the heart is for infielder Cannon Brauswell as he inked on with the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs.
Burkhalter finished 11-1 last season with a 0.93 ERA while striking out 117 batters and walking only 14.

GSU ladies to face UNO

The Grambling State Lady Tigers return to action at 7 p.m. tonight as they travel to the Big Easy to take on the University of New Orleans.
GSU’s women stand at 0-2 with losses to Baylor and Southern Methodist.
In a 110-55 loss to Baylor, GSU increased its scoring and lowered turnovers after halftime. The Lady Tigers had four players score in double figures.
In the end, they still got doubled up by the Lady Bears, who opened their first season without Brittney Griner with a 110-55 victory Saturday night.

Tech softball team gets seven new recruits

Louisiana Tech head coach Mark Montgomery and his coaching staff has been busy since their arrival in Ruston just over a year ago.
On Wednesday during the first day of the early national signing period, Montgomery and Co. announced the addition of seven high school prep stars to the Lady Techster softball program, including four from the state of Louisiana.
