NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN
ORDINANCE NO: 1003013-1
AN ORDINANCE, TO PROHIBIT THE OPERATION OF BOTTLE/BYOB CLUBS WITHIN THE CITY OF GRAMBLING, LOUISANA AND REPEAL ALL PRIOR ORDINANCES TO THE CONTRARY was introduced by Council member Roy Jackson and seconded by Council member Cathy Holmes. on October 3, 2013. A Public Hearing will be held on the Ordinance and the Ordinance will be considered for adoption at the Monthly Meeting of the Mayor and the Council to be held at 5:30 p.m., on November 7, 2013 Council Chambers/ Courtroom, City Hall, 127 King Street, Grambling, Louisiana.

Regular Session

THE LINCOLN Parish School Board met in Regular Session on Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at 12:30 p.m. at Choudrant High School, 2555 Highway 80, Choudrant, Louisiana. Members present were Ms. Debbie Abrahm, Mr. Otha Anders, Mr. Michael Barmore, Ms. Lisa Best, Mr. Danny Hancock, Ms. Mattie Harrison, Mr. Trott Hunt, Mr. George Mack, Jr., and Mr. Joe Mitcham. Mr. Curtis Dowling, Ms. Lynda Henderson, and Mr. Eddie Jones were absent.
Prior to the business meeting, board members enjoyed a delicious lunch in the school cafeteria.

LCDBG Application Available for Review
The Village of Choudrant announces that an application for the FY 2014/2015 Louisiana Community Development Block Grant (LCDBG) funds will be submitted for the following:
Activity: LCDBG funds will be used to reconstruct and rehabilitate streets within the Village.
Objective: To provide street improvements to three (3) streets within the Target areas identified.
Location: The target area consists of Target Area 1: rehabilitation of Mardis Street and Myrtle Street; Target Area 2: reconstruction of Oak Street.

Remembering a ‘good ole boy’ named ‘Bum’

In the summer of 1985 you could practically set your clock by O.A. “Bum” Phillips.
Just as sure as the Kansas City Southern would zip through Ruston on its regular 12 noon schedule, the folksy Phillips would conduct each press conference for media covering the New Orleans Saints’ preseason workouts at Louisiana Tech at 3:30 p.m. on the top floor of Carruthers Hall.
And be assured, the press conferences always started at 3:30 p.m.
Phillips, who passed away recently at the age of 90, made sure of that with his media brethren.

It was almost the perfect ending to a drama that has played out for nearly two weeks now.
But it wasn’t meant to be. Not yet, anyway.
Looking for their first win over the season, the Grambling State Tigers saw their dreams dashed again Saturday as Texas Southern rallied from a 10-point deficit behind backup quarterback Jamal Small, who plunged into the end zone from two yards out to give TSU a 23-17 win in overtime.
Grambling took first possession in overtime but failed to score after freshman kicker Johnathan Wallace missed on a 29-yard field goal attempt.

Tech takes victory at FIU, 23-7

MIAMI — Louisiana Tech’s Kenneth Dixon tallied 183 all-purpose yards and Kyle Fischer hit five field goals as Louisiana Tech beat Florida International University 23-7 at Alfonso Field at FIU Stadium Saturday night in Miami.
Dixon’s 183 yards was only 14 yards shy of the total offensive yards put up by FIU (1-6, 1-2 Conference USA) as the Bulldogs (3-5, 2-2) held FIU to only 197 yards overall.

Tech volleyball set for annual Dig Pink match

Following Friday night’s contest at Tulsa, Louisiana Tech returns home to Ruston to battle league foe FIU in the team’s annual Dig Pink match at 1 p.m today in Scotty Robertson Memorial Gymnasium.
In support of Breast Cancer Awareness month, the Lady Techsters will be wearing pink shoe strings and accents, while free pink Tech Volleyball T-shirts will be given away to all fans in attendance while supplies last.
Additionally, free raffle tickets will be given away at the match as fans will be automatically entered to win a pink volleyball signed by the 2013 Lady Techsters and staff.

LPSO makes armed robbery arrest

At approximately 1:32 p.m. Friday, Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested asuspect of an armed robbery and aggravated assault with a firearm.
Charles Ladarren Owens at 137 Marie St. in Grambling was wanted for the two charges in Ouachita Parish that were reportedly commited on Oct. 7. LPSO also arrested Shetoquice Walker as an accessory to the crimes after the fact.
