It would seem that Mitt Romney has made an intelligent move in choosing Sen. Paul Ryan as his running mate for the upcoming presidential elections. The clarity and certainty Ryan offers serves as a funnel through which we can now view Romney, who has been accused of hypocrisy — especially in terms of his views on the Obama Administration’s Affordable Care Act — and flip-flopping on myriad issues.

Preps kick off Friday night

The wait is over for Lincoln Parish high school football teams.
Welcome to the 2012 season.
It will officially arrive Friday night when Ruston High and Grambling High remain on their own fields and Cedar Creek takes to the road for the first challenges of the regular campaign.

Lady Techsters land ex-Temple star

Former Temple forward Brittany Lewis has signed scholarship papers and will suit up for the Lady Techster basketball team this season – her final as a collegiate player – while pursuing her master’s degree.
Lewis, a 6-foot-2-inch forward who earned her bachelor’s degree from Temple, has registered for fall classes and is eligible after the NCAA approved the waiver filed on her behalf by the Tech.

Coaches are usually creates of habit.
Once locked into a routine, they usually stay with it, come heck or high water.
Well, the “high water” did arrive enough from Hurricane Isaac earlier this week to force a change in the routine for Head Coach Sonny Dykes and his Louisiana Tech University football team.

Louisiana Tech closed Thursday due to Tropical Storm Isaac

Normal operations, schedules to resume on Friday

Louisiana Tech University will be closed today due to the expected impacts from Tropical Storm Isaac.
Essential university personnel are required to report to work as normal today. Residence halls will also be open to students and food service will continue to be provided.
Normal university operations and schedules will resume on Friday.

Earl Lee Henry, Jr.

Funeral services for Mr. Earl Lee Henry, Jr., age 85 of Natchitoches, will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Salem Methodist Church in Dubach. Rev. George Holland and Rev. David Matlock will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.

Douglas Henry Kaspar

Douglas Henry Kaspar, 65, was born in Wichita, Kansas on January 7, 1947 to Charles and Gladys Kaspar in Ruston, Louisiana. He passed away on August 15, 2012, following a lengthly illness. He graduated at Baton Rouge school for the deaf in 1966.

He is survived by his sisters, Donna Lewis (John) of Ojai, California and Carol Kaspar of Winter Haven, Florida ; nieces and nephews all of Bremerton, Washington.

Plans are pending for a memorial service.
