Danni Jones Nighttime Walk/Run

Danni Jones Physical Therapy reached out to the community by holding a charity event. On July 26, DJPT held its first ever Nighttime Walk/Run with a Zumba warm-up. A total of $410 was raised from the event. All proceeds were donated locally to Christian Community Action.

Celine is a 6- to 8-year-old Poodle mix who is current on shots and is looking for a home. This girl was found wandering the streets in the extremely hot weather. Celine likes to be around people but is still very shy around people she does not know. She’ll need some time adjusting to her new home but would love to find a family to call her own. Choudrant memorial honors veterans

Many Lincoln Parish residents throughout the years have signed up and willingly placed themselves in harm’s way to protect their family and neighbors in times of war. Some made the ultimate sacrifice, giving their lives to protect the people they loved and the values they cared about.
Others were lucky enough to make it home. Each Nov. 11, we honor those veterans who were willing to give their lives if it came to that, with Veterans Day observances throughout the parish and the rest of the country.

School policy needed change

As I wrote two weeks ago, one of my dearest and oldest friends is expecting her first child. She is not the first person whom I am close with to have a baby. In fact, at this point in my life, I have known quite a few, although there are some, like me, who have yet to have this experience. Yet, with all those who have, each share one common trait: they are scared.

Ranked teams highlight ‘Jam’

If it’s highly ranked teams that fancy your appetite for a sporting event, then the fourth annual “Jam at the Joe” is made for you later this month.
More than half of the lineup of entries in the preseason extravaganza closed out their 2011 campaigns with Top 15 ratings in the Louisiana Sports Writers Association poll.
Haynesville, which will help open up the Aug. 25 jamboree at Louisiana Tech University’s Joe Aillet Stadium, had the highest ranking with its No. 2 slot among Class 1A programs.

Tech fans meet, greet players

Over 500 Louisiana Tech fans came out to Joe Aillet Stadium Sunday afternoon as the Bulldogs held the first of two fan autograph and meet-and-greet sessions of fall camp.
Fans filed through the west concourse of Joe Aillet Stadium anxious to meet their favorite players and gather autographs on promotional items being handed out or on Bulldog memorabilia of their own.

Team USA wins Olympics’ medals race again

Americans top China 104-87 to lead London Summer Games

LONDON – The soundtrack to the London Olympics went a little like this: Paul McCartney performing Hey Jude during the opening ceremony. The official song of the Games, Muse’s Survival, blaring at every venue. The music to Chariots of Fire during every medal ceremony. And The Star-Spangled Banner when gold medals were awarded.
Team USA took the top spot in the medals race for the fifth consecutive Summer Olympics, winning 104 medals to China’s 87. The Americans also topped the gold medal count, 46-38.
