’Dogs look to revive WAC standing

Tech takes 1-8 league mark into home series against Hawaii

This is, or needs to be, turnaround time for Louisiana Tech University’s baseball team.
Because time is starting to run out on the Bulldogs in the Western Athletic Conference standings.
Tech is currently at the bottom of the seven-team chart with a 1-8 record.

Techsters lose home contest

in

Louisiana Tech University committed four errors which led to six unearned runs, as the Lady Techsters fell 9-3 at home Wednesday evening to Stephen F. Austin in non-conference softball action.
Two of the miscues came during a costly top of the fourth inning when SFA scored five runs — four unearned — to take a 7-3 lead. Errors in the sixth and seventh innings each led to unearned runs as the LadyJacks pulled away for the win, splitting the season series between the two teams.

Johnson to receive award

Dubach coach earns top honor in Class C

A “Cinderella” year for Theodis Johnson isn’t over just yet.
The former Grambling State University basketball player who guided Dubach High School’s two teams to the Louisiana High School Athletic Association state tournament this season will be recognized as the top boys’ coach in Class C May 5.
Johnson will receive the award from the Louisiana Association of Basketball Coaches at its annual banquet to be held in Baton Rouge at the Embassy Suites Hotel starting at 6 p.m.

Techsters face FSU

After winning the most matches since 1994, the Louisiana Tech University tennis team enters the Western Athletic Conference tournament as the No. 8 seed and will face No. 1 seed and No. 48 nationally ranked Fresno State today in Las Cruces, N.M. at the New Mexico State University Tennis Center.
The Lady Techsters enter the tournament with a 14-7 record and 0-3 in conference play.
This will be the second straight year that Tech will face the Bulldogs in the opening round of the conference postseason tournament ,with Tech falling 4-0 in 2011.

Simsboro, Choudrant start Class B playoffs

in

Simsboro and Choudrant will represent District 1-B when the Louisiana High School Athletic Association baseball playoffs begin today.
The Tigers will play host to Rapides High at 5 p.m. and the Aggies will be at home for a 4 p.m. contest against Negreet.
Both Choudrant and Simsboro are ranked in the Top 10 for Class B power ratings, according to the LHSAA.
Simsboro recently won the District 1-B championship with a 13-8 win over defending two-time Class B state title winner Forest High.
The Tigers also own two wins against Choudrant.

Funeral services for Sondra McCrary Clark will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 10:00 am at Temple Baptist Church in Ruston, Louisiana. Officiating will be Reverend David Hastings. Interment will follow at Pines Memorial under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston.

Mary Edna Cole Colvin

Mary Edna Colvin completed her beautiful, earthly journey and entered her eternal life with Jesus on April 23, 2012 at the age of 86 years. She will be remembered for her sweet, gentle, and loving spirit and her many gestures of unselfish kindness and care. Her family and many others knew God’s love that shown through her smile and tender touch.
