Looking forward

Tech forum to discuss the future of Ruston

Louisiana Tech University leaders will be discussing how the school will be impacted by future development in the City of Ruston in a forum Thursday night in University Hall Auditorium.
The Tech University Senate will present the forum titled, “The Future of Ruston: The Progress and Development in Ruston and How It Will Impact the University,” from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the auditorium, and many guest speakers are lined up to speak on different aspects in the city and how they prepare Ruston and Tech for the future. The event is open to the public.

Upright Citizens Brigade visits Ruston

Troupe Dixie’s second annual BrewHaha was held at the Dixie Theater for the Arts on Thursday evening. The event featured comedic improvisation group the Upright Citizens Brigade Touring Company from New York City and was sponsored by Community Trust Bank. Troupe Dixie is a newly formed group of young professionals who support the Dixie Center for the Arts. At one point in the evening, the touring company pulled a Ruston woman as volunteer onto the stage. They interviewed her before acting out skits based on that interview.

RPAR softball season on tap

Signup for men, coed and church teams due April 25

Ruston Parks and Recreation is currently accepting coed, church and men’s class E softball teams for its 2012 summer softball season.
Fees, of $280 per team, can be turned into the RPAR office at 605 James St. between the hours of 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday. Deadline for registration and fees is April 25.
Softball games will begin the week of April 30 and are expected to last six to seven weeks, depending on the number of teams that enter. The schedule of games will be made available after the deadline for registration has passed.
