Village talks roads, clean up at meeting

Choudrant mayor Bill Sanderson and village aldermen focused the March 5 village council meeting on the challenges of repairing damage to North Depot Street. According to Sanderson, the street has extensive water damage in one area to both the surface and base of the road.
The business adjacent to the damaged section of the street, which has run large commercial vehicles over the road, has denied financial responsibility for fixing the street Sanderson said.

The importance of free press

in
Ahmed, Saraf.jpg

The truth is dependent on rational persons.
Rational persons gain information from myriad media.
Therefore, the truth is dependent on multiple media.
The above syllogism is a testament to how despite — or perhaps because of — the sundry quality of the media, it is now the sole messenger of reality in the 21st century. To delve into and sift facts out of the daily onslaught of news on the internet, television and smartphones is no longer a choice, but a necessity, a civic duty of an informed and educated American.

I’m sure those of you still brave enough to watch 24-hour news channels have heard the phrase “Super PAC” tossed about a lot lately. Fed taken to the woodshed

It is the scariest thing I have read in a long time. Unfortunately, it is hard to argue with much of the message it contains. The “it” is a recent Associated Press interview with David Stockman, Ronald Reagan’s “whiz kid” budget director. Stockman, now 65, made headlines back then by pushing first for what was at the time the largest tax cut in history and then later resigning to protest excessive levels of deficit spending.

The Hornets added another chapter to their rags-to-riches story in boys’ basketball on Wednesday afternoon when the Louisiana Sports Writers Association announced its All-State squad for Class C.
There’s a definite Dubach flavor to it, for sure.
