Coyle, Bell marry

Christie Ann Coyle, of Ruston, and Michael Robert-Lewis Bellinger, of Flint, Mich., were united in holy matrimony in a 5:30 p.m. ceremony Nov. 27, at the I.W. Phillips House Courtyard.
The ceremony was officiated by the bride’s uncle, Mark Christie.
The bride is the daughter of Steven and Elaine Coyle, of Ruston. She is the granddaughter of Mary Christie, of Pangburn, Ark., and the late Charles Christie, Joyce Coyle Crosby, of Shreveport and the late Bob Coyle.
The groom is the son of Dennis and Sandra Bellinger, of Flint, Mich.

Philips, Ketchum unite in martrimony

Molly Rebecca Phillips and Justin Michael Ketchum, both of Shreveport, were united in marriage on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at the bride’s parents’ home in Haughton.
The minister officiating the early evening wedding vows was James Shields. A reception with dinner followed the ceremony at the Phillips’s residence.
The bride is the daughter of Bob and Carol Phillips of Haughton. Her grandparents are Mrs. Alice Herrmann of Ruston, the late Dr. Leo Herrmann, and the late Mr. Ruben Carlos and Dr. Jenny Phillips.

Duncan, Post exchange vows

Christy Duncan, of Monroe, and Justin Post, of Ruston, recently exchanged wedding vows. The couple was married in a 6 p.m. ceremony March 10 at Temple Baptist Church.
The ceremony was officiated by Dr. Rick Byargeron.
Christy is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Duncan, of Monroe. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Duncan, and Mr. and Mrs. Travis Sayers.
Justin is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Post, of Ruston. He is the grandson of Mrs. Walterine Post and the late Jesse Post, and Mrs. Sharel Sargent and the late George Sargent.

Hearne, Allen marry in Novemeber wedding

Sarah Hearne, of Ruston, and Daniel Allen, of Ruston, were united in marriage in a double-ring ceremony at 5 p.m. Nov. 19 at the Norton Building in Ruston.
The ceremony was officiated the by Rev. Michael McBride.
Sarah is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Scott and Shelly Hearne, of Ruston. She is the granddaughter of David C. Hearne, and the late Shirley Hearne, of Lafayette, and Merlyne Meche, and the late Raymond Dale Meche, of Opelousas.

Jordan, Bryan to marry

Dr. Laureen Mayfield, of Ruston, is pleased to announce the engagement and approaching wedding of her daughter, Meghan Elizabeth Jordan, of Ruston, to Adam Bryan, of Sulphur Springs, Texas.
Meghan is the granddaughter of Mrs. Evelyn Goers, of Dallas, Texas, and the late Mr. Joseph Goers.
The bride-elect is a 2007 alumna of Ruston High School and graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a degree in Biology in 2011. While she attended Louisiana Tech she was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority.

Coates, Plummer to exchange vows

Mr. and Mrs. John Scott Coates, of Ruston, are pleased to announce the engagement and approaching wedding of their daughter Anna Katherine Coates, of Ruston, to Robert Casey Plummer, of Ruston.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Sybil Leachman, of Ruston, and the late Billy Leachman, Mr. Jack Coates, of Sulpher, and the late Maydell Coates.
Katey is a 2005 graduate of Ruston High School and an alumna of Louisiana Tech University, with a degree in nursing. While in school, she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority.

Mr. and Mrs. Donnie Adams, of Ruston, and Mrs. Kathy Reaser, of Los Angeles Calif., are pleased to announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter Brittany Ryan Adams, of Los Angeles, Calif., to Sherrod Erskin Kirkendoff, of Ruston.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Adams of Downsville, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Richard Whorton of Los Angeles, Calif.

Simoneaux Jam set

Ruston ready for 13th annual event

Downtown Ruston will be bursting with people this weekend as musicians and music lovers make their yearly pilgrimage to the John Simoneaux Memorial Jam.
This year marks the 13th anniversary of the Jam. The event kicks off Friday with a pre-jam from 8:30 p.m. until midnight. The real Jam will be from 5 p.m. until midnight Saturday. The annual event will be held simultaneously at both Sundown Tavern and Ponchatoulas.

Spring cleaning

Parish to tidy up over weekend

Spring is right around the corner and area residents now have the chance to pitch in to help their community.
Keep Lincoln Parish Beautiful will host the Great American Cleanup from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in Railroad Park.
The event titled Lincoln Green and Clean is designed so that residents who attend will be given information regarding different ways to help out in the community.

School board discusses case

The Lincoln Parish School Board held a strategic planning session concerning the ongoing desegregation litigation on Wednesday evening.
Board members called the meeting to order and then went into executive session after their attorney on the case Bob Hammonds, of Hammonds and Sills, suggested that they do so.
This is the latest in a series of such meetings, which have been called to address the concerns brought up in a status report filed in May of 2011 regarding the desegregation case originally filed in the 1970s. That status report revealed that three out of four of the Ruston district elementary schools had racially identifiable populations.
