Parish 4-H holds foods festival

On Feb. 20, the halls of I.A. Lewis were filled with the mouth-watering aroma of many wonderful food dishes prepared by Lincoln Parish 4-H members. Lincoln Parish 4-H celebrated foods with its annual 4-H Foods Festival competition. There was great participation and many prizes were awarded. The winners and participants were as follows:

Beat sleep deprivation

If you found yourself dosing off while sitting at your desk today, you’re probably not alone.
According to a press release from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, Louisiana is one of the states with the highest prevalence of sleep issues.
Louisiana residents, along with those from West Virginia, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas and Oklahoma, are the “most likely to report sleep disturbances.” Approximately 21.2-26 percent of the state’s population report sleep disturbances. Additionally, 23.1-25.2 percent of residents report daytime fatigue.

Funeral services for Aaron Pesnell, age 19, of Choudrant, LA will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Choudrant. Officiating the service will be Rev. David Harrell, and Rev. Chris Witt. Interment will follow at Choudrant Memorial Cemetery in Choudrant.

Aaron was born June 17, 1992 and passed away February 26, 2012

Helen Hollis Colvin

Helen Hollis Colvin was born on May 20, 1916 in Bernice, LA and died on February 26, 2012 in Ruston, LA.

The youngest child of Jesse Benjamin and Euphamie Grafton Hollis, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, William A. Colvin, III, nine brothers and two sisters.
