As many know, Congress recently stopped the passage of two bills, the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Protect Intellectual Property Act (PIPA), thanks to the request of millions of citizens in the country who did not want the Internet regulated in the way the two bills would have made it.
SOPA and PIPA were meant to aim at cracking down on copyright infringement by restricting access to sites that host or facilitate the trading of pirated content, but if you were to ask anyone against the bills, they would have given far too much control to the government in regulating things.

Cyber bullying to Bible bullying

Combine religion with cyber bullying and you have an entire new style of bullying that goes beyond the power of God. I call it Bible bullying.
Jessica Ahlquist, a 16-year-old from Cranston, R.I., was the plaintiff in a Rhode Island American Civil Liberties Union case. Ahlquist, who is an atheist, fought the school in order to have them remove a banner in the auditorium. The phrase on the banner reads “Our Heavenly Father,” and comes to a conclusion with the word “Amen.”

Frances G. Gates

Funeral services for Frances G. Gates, age 86, of Dubach will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Dubach United Methodist Church. Officiating the service will be Bro. Don Lanier, Bro. Terry Ganey, and Bro. Richard Warmack. Interment will follow at Harmony Chapel Cemetery west of Dubach under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston.

Mrs. Gates was born July 29, 1925 and passed away February 2, 2012.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Gates; brother: David Owen and wife Nan; and nephew: Ken Hanks.

James Waldon, Jr.

James Waldon, Jr., affectionately known as “Peanut,” was born on November 14, 1939, in Lincoln Parish to the late Ruth Outley Waldon and the late James Waldon, Sr. He departed this life on January 27, 2012, at Overton Brooks VA Medical Center.
