One big, happy family to be together in Heaven

It’s strange. As old as I am, I keep having brand new adventures. My latest has to do with the most unusual memorial service I’ve ever attended. It was for the young woman, Debbie O’Neal, who died and whom I’ve been talking about.
I promise I won’t write about it again. However, it has deeply impacted my life to stand by and see this valiant young woman fight and lose her battle to live.

Zero is important; Beta officers installed

Kindergarten news
The kindergarten at Choudrant Elementary has had a very special visitor every 10th day of school.
Zero the Hero brings us the zeros we need when counting our days in school and helps us learn about the importance of zeros in numbers. With his help we will be reaching our 100th day of school Feb. 6 and are really excited to celebrate being 100 days smarter with Zero the Hero.

FFA students place in competitions

Choudrant High School FFA
The Choudrant FFA has competed in several Leadership Career Developments recently.
Parliamentary Procedure team placed second at district, second at area I and fourth at the state contest. Team members include: Hunter Antley, Lane Brister, Paisley Futch, Luke Taylor, Nathan Taylor, Rebecca Walters. Alternates were Jannon Colvin and Brandon Smith.

Kelly and Kelly Clark: adoptive parents

Ruston family reaches out with love

For married couple Kelly and Kelly Clark, the past two years have been a journey like one they would have never imagined for themselves.
In between working, raising a young child and living life, the Ruston Residents also had something laid on their hearts they knew they wanted to do in their marriage — adopt a child.
“We have always just wanted to adopt a child, and I would say that desire originates in our Christian beliefs,” Mrs. Clark said. “It is as if God has adopted us, so we need to go out and try and help others the way he helped us. He takes care of us.”

Our sixth-12th grade youth ministry is growing. Join us at 6 p.m. Sundays. We also invite you to come pray with us.

State superintendent visits

A day after the annual local State of the School District report, Lincoln Parish had a visit from the state’s top man in education on Thursday.
John White, who was appointed as Louisiana’s new superintendent of education earlier this month, spent Thursday morning talking to local educators and business leaders.
His visit began at Squire Creek Country Club, where he shared breakfast with principals, school board members, business leaders and others involved with education.

Tech to host Nevada

For Louisiana Tech University’s Bulldogs, if Saturday night’s Western Athletic Conference game against Nevada at the Thomas Assembly Center has just half of the excitement of a Thursday night duel against Fresno State, then fans in attendance might want to consider bringing along a heart monitor.
The blood pressure readings could take another hike up should the young and feisty ’Dogs play in a similar manner against the Wolf Pack (17-3, 6-0), off to a great start and currently atop the conference standings.
