Jurors to discuss job spot, trash hauling rate

The Lincoln Parish Police Jury is slated to convene for its regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Included among the planned business are several appointments, a report from Lincoln Parish Sales and Use Tax Administrator Jerry Moore and multiple resolutions.

Annual event raises funds for kids

Today and Tuesday area residents will have the opportunity to donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Various community organizations joined together in hopes of raising money and awareness for St. Jude.

Speaker sheds light on Middle Eastern dictators

Through Louisiana Tech’s Department of History’s Faculty Lecture Series A. Nazir Atassi, an assistant professor of history, presented a lecture on “Middle East Dictators: How They Rise, How They Rule, How They Fall.”

A two-game road trip through the west this past weekend proved less than ideal for the Michael White-guided squad.
First, on Thursday night, Tech lost 77-63 at Utah State.

Hadnot moves up on Tech record list

Trey Hadnot ran the second-fastest 2000-meter dash time in school history, as Louisiana Tech University wrapped up action at the Tyson Invitational on the University of Arkansas campus late Saturday night.
The former Ruston High School star finished No. 6 in the 200-m dash with a time of 21.22, edging Ole Miss’ Isiah Young by three-hundredths (0.03) of a second. Hadnot’s time of 21.22 is second only to his school record time of 21.04 set earlier this season.

Tech golfers start spring season today

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Louisiana Tech University opens its spring golf season today when Head Coach Jeff Parks and the Bulldogs travel to Texas to compete in the 15-team 2012 University of Texas-San Antonio Oak Hills Invitational hosted by UTSA.
The event will be held at the Oak Hills Country Club, a 6,765-yard, par 71 course located in San Antonio.
This year’s field includes Baylor, Houston, Iowa State, Kansas State, Louisiana‐Lafayette, North Texas, Oklahoma, Rice, Southeastern Louisiana, Texas State, Texas Tech, Tulsa, UTSA, Wichita Stat and Louisiana Tech.

Pharis selected winner of Tech promotion

Louisiana Tech University student Lou Pharis has been selected as the winner of the Papa John’s Pizza “Pigout Giveaway” that was featured during the Bulldogs’ 2011 football season.
Pharis, a sophomore English major, was randomly selected after entering the pool of applicants following his dance routine at the Sept. 11 football game against the University of Central Arkansas at Joe Aillet Stadium.
