Funeral services for Mr. Clinton Lee Davidson, age 89 of Dubach, will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, February 17, 2012 at Owens Memorial Chapel in Ruston. Rev. Randy Ray and Bro. Don Stevens will be officiating the services. Burial will follow in Pines Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.

James Thomas “Tommy” Gardner

James Thomas “Tommy” Gardner born January 1, 1929 to Adele & Howard Gardner here in Ruston, La. and died February 13, 2012 in North Richland Hills, Tx. at 2:30 p.m. His loving wife & family surrounding him at Manor Care Nursing Home. There was a short funeral service held this morning at 9:30 a.m. at Mt. Olivette Funeral Chapel in Ft. Worth Texas for Family and friends in the Community where he had resided for the past 19 yrs.

The body will arrive in Ruston for a full Military Honors graveside service at 10 a.m. Friday morning February 17 at the Cooktown cemetery here in Ruston.

COES seeks funding

Estimated cost of new building $15M

Having recently raised $3 million, the Louisiana Tech College of Engineering and Science is closer to getting its new Integrated Engineering and Science Building, which is estimated to cost $15 million.
James Nelson, associate dean of undergraduate studies for the COES, said the college is hoping to raise $7.5 million and use state grants to pay for the other half.
Nelson said the new building will encourage more collaboration among programs, facilitate the project-based curriculum and accommodate study groups for students.

King’s life to be portrayed

The Grambling State University Theater Department has an upcoming production set that will reveal certain aspects of Martin Luther King Jr.’s life many tend to overlook.
Al Boswell’s play “Michael, a King” will be put on at 7 p.m. Feb. 28-March 2 at the Floyd L. Sandle Theater.
Tickets for the production can be purchased at the box office located in the Conrad-Hutchinson Fine Arts Building beginning one week prior to the show from 1-5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Water plans move forward

Grambling awaits grant for new meters

GRAMBLING — The Town of Grambling got two steps closer to new water meters in its limits Thursday night when the town council approved two resolutions for remote meter installation.
In two unanimous votes, the council voted to approve Dean Dick Engineering for design services and construction of the meters and Triton for any assistance in installation and training for local employees for the new meters.

Arrests made after routine traffic stop

A simple traffic stop yielded a variety of drugs Tuesday night and sent two area men to the Lincoln Parish Detention Center on multiple charges.
Melvin Tyrone Garner, 33, 180 Pine Bayou Circle, Monroe, was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, third offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, open container and possession of Xanax. Stephen Randolph Griffith, 28, 1112 W. Alabama Ave., was also arrested on the same charges, with the addition of no turning signal and improper turning charges.

Ruston Parks and Recreation Department continues their partnership with TeamInfo App to bring RPAR players, fans and families the RPAR TeamInfoApp for iPhone, which is now available on the Apple App Store. Search for “TeamInfoApp” in the app store.
After you download the app to your device, click Browse TeamInfo Apps, next select Louisiana and then select League at the bottom of the screen. Then click on RPAR — Spring 2012 and get started using the RPAR — Spring 2012 TeamInfoApp today.
