Sept. 11 remembered

Sept. 11. Anniversary — the 10th. 9-11 and 9-1-1; numbers stated differently, now with overlapping meanings. Images, numbers and words were seared in our hearts, minds and souls forever on this earth.
Your writer will not have a column appear before the 10th anniversary save for this one. My thoughts are not profound nor unique, yet maybe some are yours as well.
For those around my age, we can share the "where we were" story when learning about the Kennedy assassination.

Wreck near Grambling

Emergency personnel responded to a wreck at approximately 8:30 a.m. today at the intersection of Heard Road and U.S. Highway 80 near Grambling. Grambling Police officers on the scene said preliminary investigations revealed that a gold truck was traveling south on Stadium Drive and suddenly turned in front of a red truck traveling west on U.S. Highway 80.

Jearld Dewitt Osbon

Graveside services for Jearld Dewitt Osbon, age 72, of Ruston, LA were held on Sunday, September 4, 2011 at Luna Assembly of God Cemetery near Eros. Officiating the service was Bro. Tony Smith.

Mr. Osbon was born May 11, 1939 in West Monroe and passed away September 2, 2011 in Ruston, LA. Mr. Osbon was preceded in death by his parents, Dewitt Osbon and Lucille McManus Osbon and two sisters, Ruby Bearden and Hazel Bald.

Bobby James Conville, Sr.

Bobby James Conville, Sr. was born March 11, 1921 in the Bienville Parish community of Driskill Mountain to Robert Newton and Mary Belle Smith Conville. At age 17, Bobby accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and went to be with Him on September 4, 2011 in Ruston, Louisiana.
