Nick Isham knows about the proverbial growing pains that go with being a starting quarterback at the NCAA’s highest level (Football Bowl Subdivision, formerly known as Division 1A).
It’s all part of the territory, not to mention coming into such a role with a long list of credentials (among them being a Gatorade National Player of the Year award as a senior) in the California prep ranks.
So when asked about those two pass interceptions that were credited to him in the final minute of regulation play and then overtime against Mississippi State last weekend, the Louisiana Tech University freshman patiently paused when facing an inquisitive area media group earlier this week and said:

Louisiana Tech University’s class of 2011 athletics’ Hall of Fame inductees definitely have the “Wow” factor.
You want impressive credentials for a group that will be honored in ceremonies on Saturday in the Waggoner Room of the Thomas Assembly Center starting at 1 p.m.?
Consider:
• Paul Millsap: the only player in college history to win three straight NCAA rebounding titles.
• Venus Lacy: a Kodak All-American and member of the 1996 U.S. Olympic gold-medal women’s basketball team.

RHS, Creek home

Ruston High meets Minden and Cedar Creek High tackles Delhi in home action for two of Lincoln Parish’s three prep gridiron teams tonight.
The Bearcats (2-2) and Tide (2-2) will have a 7 p.m. duel at James Stadium, while the Cougars (3-1) and Bears (0-4) will battle at the same time at Cougar Stadium. The latter contest will also mark homecoming for Cedar Creek.

Tech falls to Aggies

Louisiana Tech (8-9; 0-2 WAC) fell to the defending Western Athletic Conference champions of Utah State, 3-1 (19-25; 14-25; 25-21; 12-25) in the Thomas Assembly Center Thursday night.
The Lady Techsters were led offensively by outside hitter Marcella Braz, who had nine kills.
Nataliya Panova recorded five kills and 17 digs against the Aggies, while Regan Himmelberg and Caitlin Germany each notched four kills in the stat sheet, but their efforts fell short as errors plagued the Lady Techsters. The team recorded nine service errors and only a .047 hitting percentage.
