Ants and hydrangeas

in
Maki, Ken.jpg

I was thinking the other day — I have not seen as many ants as I often do. Was it because of a superior chemical control season? I used both spray and granules. I started early and was pretty consistent during April and May. Or, was it because of the hot dry weather? I just didn’t see many hills or ones running around. I did not see many ants of any type except the little bitsy ones that would show up every now and then in the house and be making a long trail from somewhere to somewhere. They do not do much damage and can be controlled by a band spraying around the baseboards or other pathways that they may have picked.

Williams doesn’t care for rematch

in

Grambling State University Head Coach Doug Williams isn’t exactly doing cartwheels over a scheduled rematch with the University of Louisiana-Monroe in 2013.
“On Sunday, I probably got about 15 calls from unhappy Grambling fans, who weren’t pleased with the way things went at the game,” Williams said at his weekly media luncheon on Monday about the 35-7 loss to the Warhawks. “I wasn’t, either. I know our bench was located on the side where ULM students were behind us and they were saying some pretty rough things to our players. I told our guys to just not buy into what they were saying or to let it go, but it got to be pretty rude after a while. I know it’s a game and fans want to yell for their team, but there are some things better left unsaid.”

GSU: Too many mistakes at ULM

Tigers were own worst enemy in 35-7 loss to Warhawks

GRAMBLING — Head Coach Doug Williams is hoping his Grambling State University team got the message in Saturday’s 35-7 loss at the University of Louisiana-Monroe.
The message is this: the Tigers weren’t totally focused and made too many mistakes against the Warhawks.
“All during practice last week, we kept warning the players that they needed to be totally focused and to avoid making little mistakes that could get us whipped,” Williams said. “Unfortunately, that’s what happened too many times in the game. We made too many bone-headed mistakes and didn’t play the way we’re capable of playing. Every time we made a mistake, it seemed as if ULM took advantage of it.”

Tech to host Heisman Trophy candidate, aerial-minded Cougars

Louisiana Tech University’s next home game is set for Saturday night, but it might very well end on Sunday morning.
While that might be an exaggeration, one thing is shaping up and that’s a likely marathon meeting with the University of Houston at Joe Aillet Stadium.
The Cougars — no surprise — love to throw the football and just might do it as well, if not better, than any school in the country.
