Rizk, Campbell to unite in matrimony

Mr. and Mrs. Nagy Rizk, of Tampa, Fla., are pleased to announce the engagement and approaching wedding of their daughter Miriam Rizk to Harold Campbell.

Harold is the son of Donna Parker, of Gibsland, and Harold Campbell Sr., of Hodge. He is the maternal grandson of Marie Holleman, of Gibsland, the late Willis Parker and the late James Holleman. Harold is the paternal grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Kerr Joe Campbell.

Grigsby, Latiolais to exchange vows

Sally Stokes Grigsby and Jerry Gene Grigsby, both of Ruston, are pleased to announce the engagement and approaching wedding of their daughter, Lindsay Cale Grigsby, of Ruston, to Aaron Michael Latiolais, of Franklin.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Sara Stokes, of Mansfield, the late Daniel Shaw Stokes and the late Mr. and Mrs. Gene Grigsby. Lindsay is a 2003 alumna of Ruston High School and graduated from Louisiana Tech University. She is employed with Peach Tree Dental in Ruston.

Reed, Buggs to wed

Carlos Runtez Buggs and Quinita Rontez Reed, both of Ruston, are pleased to announce their engagement and approaching wedding.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Cloteal Reed, of Ruston, and the late Cleveland Reed. Quinita is a graduate of Ruston High School and attended Grambling State University. She is employed with the city of Ruston as a customer service new account specialist.

The groom is the son of Barbara Buggs, of Ruston, and the late Mack Gay. He attended Wossman High School in Monroe and is employed with Will Transportation of Monroe.

Marion Wallace Farries Bretz

A significant figure on the Ruston music scene for half a century, Marion Wallace Farries Bretz, died in Bowling Green, KY, on Sept. 11, aged 98.

A mainstay of choral music at Trinity United Methodist Church, Marion taught over a thousand piano and vocal students from her Goode Street home while her husband, Marshall Bretz, taught at and headed the Louisiana Tech Music Department and served as organist and choir director at Trinity.

Marion taught piano and voice lessons, sang at weddings and funerals, directed children’s choirs and sang in the chancel choir at Trinity until 1979.

Anyone who has ever had the inkling to run away and join the circus won’t have to run far next month.
The Carson and Barnes Circus will make a stop in Ruston on Oct. 23 at the North Louisiana Exhibition Center on Louisiana Highway 33. The circus, presented by the Ruston Jaycees, will have two show times at 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
The event will feature traditional circus acts such as acrobats, animals and clowns, including world-renowned clown Alex, the “King of Comedy.”
Jason Jones, president of the Ruston Jaycees, said the event is an exciting family event.
