Creek, RHS blank foes

Cedar Creek and Ruston got an unofficially encouraging start to their 2011 football season on Saturday.
That’s when the Cougars rolled past Homer 22-0 and the Bearcats Shreveport Loyola Prep 14-0 at the third annual “Jam at the Joe” held at Joe Aillet Stadium on the campus of Louisiana Tech University.

Hilton, McCallum earn FCA ‘Character’ awards

It’s more than just about football when the “Jam at the Joe” sets up operations at Joe Aillet Stadium on the campus of Louisiana Tech University.
There’s also the all-important areas of sportsmanship, building character and being a loyal teammate.
Those are some of the qualities emphasized in the annual “Character” award, which is presented each year to one player on each of the participating teams in the “Jam at the Joe.”

Techsters’ soccer rally falls short

in

LAKE CHARLES — After falling behind early against McNeese State, the Louisiana Tech women’s soccer team comeback attempt fell short Friday night at Cowgirls Field. The Cowgirls won the fourth meeting between the in-state schools 2-1 behind two first half goals.
The loss drops the Lady Techsters to 2-1-1 on the season and while MSU improves to 1-2-0.
Tech Head Coach Kevin Sherry was not happy with his team’s performance in the first half.
