We’re losing our Bobwhite quail

My wife saw a rare sight from the kitchen window one day last year, at least rare in today’s world. She watched a pair of quail pecking around the brick walk within a few feet of the front window. She snapped a photo to prove to her skeptical husband she knew a quail when she saw one. Indeed, it was — a hen and rooster bobwhite.

Sunday Morning with La. High School Teacher of the Year Emily Howell

Excellence is becoming something of a pattern in the Lincoln Parish School System.
For the second year in a row, a Ruston High School English teacher was named the Louisiana High School Teacher of the Year. Emily Howell, this year’s winner, said she credits much of her success to a supportive environment.

Visit from hometown friend brings back good memories

I had a wonderful time today connecting with Holly Reed, Joanne Johnston’s youngest daughter.

Irbys to commemorate 50th wedding anniversary

The family of Bob and Ann Irby are happy to say the Irbys have had a wonderful 50 years of marriage.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Irby will celebrate their Golden Anniversary in Vero Beach, Fla., with their family.
They were married Aug. 4, 1961 in Ruston. They have four children, Bobbie Irby of Lake Wales, Fla., Patrick Irby of Kernersville, N.C., Denise Irby of Norfolk, Va., and Amie Irby Green of Swansboro, N.C.
They also have seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Both Bob and Ann are avid golfers and enjoy working outside.

Grubbs celebrate 50 years of marriage

Bobby and Liz Mayfield Grubb, of Ruston, were married July 31, 1961. Their children are Tammy Crutchfield, Mitchell Long, husband David and Shane Grubb, wife Callie. The couple has four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
