Common courtesy thing of the past

When I heard a Ruston man was beaten unconscious following a dispute in the McDonald’s drive-thru line about who was next, I was disturbed. But sadly, not surprised.
About a week after the incident, which happened May 29, I drove out of that same drive-thru line on a Friday night and witnessed another conflict heating up.
A car full of tough-looking guys had driven in from the County Market side to get in line, and they had gotten out of their vehicle and were loudly arguing with another gentleman.

Grambling truck fire extinguished

Grambling Fire Department firefighters and Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded late Wednesday afternoon to a truck fire near the westbound Grambling exit on Interstate 20. The fire was quickly extinguished with slight damage to the truck.

Bond is selected athletics’ director at Bethel Christian

Administrator/Principal Marilyn Neaville and the Board of Directors at Bethel Christian School of Rustdon have announced the hiring of Harrell Bond as the school’s new athletics director.
Bond is originally from Jonesboro, where he was a teacher and coach at Jonesboro-Hodge High School for 13 years before his retirement.

The Ruston Dixie Baseball Association 13-year-old All-Star squad is participating in the annual state tournament in Bossier City this week. Ruston qualified for the tournament by defeating West Monroe 17-3 and 16-6 over West Monroe. Members of the Ruston team are (from left) Mike Gibson, Kelby Glover, Josh Terral, Jackson Miller, Cade Gibson, Seth White, Carson Shively, J.T. Yates, Bankston Summersgill, Daniel Simmons, Huff McIntosh, Anthony Spence, Trevor Pesnell and Jason McIntosh.
