Oakley leads way for Bulldog Aquatic Club

Complex beings, 'Windows of my Heart'

A human being is a fathomless, complex creature, and I’m certainly no exception. Have you ever thought (or done) something that, deep down, made you hate yourself one minute later? Sure you have and so have I!
Why do we do such things? Well not being one with too much expertise in the behavioral sciences, I must admit that I really don’t know. But it happens, time after time. One day, pondering on such matters, I was inspired to write a poem. Now, I composed it about myself, but if you should catch a little glimpse of yourself somewhere in there, who knows, it may help us both.

One month, many different meanings

These days every month (actually it’s more like every day) is set aside for at least five different observances. The awareness months range from the helpful such as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (which is in October if you’ve forgotten), to the absurd, such as National Anti-Boredom Month (which is next month, so I guess we should all work really hard to fight boredom in July).

Achievement awards received

Eleven Cedar Creek School students received the “Louisiana Student Achievement Award” from the Louisiana ACT Council for their performance on the PLAN (Pre-ACT) Assessment. These students are on target to meet or exceed ACT’s College Readiness Benchmarks by graduation.  ACT’s College Readiness Benchmarks are empirically based and identify the level of achievement necessary in English, mathematics, reading and science to have a successful college freshman experience.
