Three parish teams still in hunt

Simsboro, Choudrant, RHS move to baseball quarterfinal round

One thing is guaranteed in the quarterfinal round of the 2011 Louisiana High School Athletic Association baseball playoffs.
At least one team from Lincoln Parish will be reaching the semifinals.
That situation will come about on Saturday when longtime parish and District 3-B rivals Simsboro and Choudrant lock up at the Tigers’ diamond.
It will mark the “rubber” meeting of the two schools located within a long throw from the outfield from each other.

New Living Word runner-up at region 1-C meet

New Living Word School, in its first year of competition in the Louisiana High School Athletic Association, had three first place finishes from individual performers to wind up No. 2 as a team at the recently held Regional 1-C track and field meet.

Tech golfers finish No. 4

Holder, Tanner set to exchange vows June 25

Dr. and Mrs. Charles W. “Bill” Tanner Jr., of Ruston, are pleased to announce the engagement and approaching wedding of their daughter, Holly Amanda Tanner, of Ruston, to Daniel Chase Holder, of El Dorado, Ark.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Neal, of Sarepta, and Dr. Charles W. Tanner and the late Callie Tanner, of Springhill. She is a 2003 alumna of Ruston High School and earned an Associate of Science degree in surgical technology in 2009. Holly is employed at Green Clinic Surgical Hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. Grigg Chandler, of Ruston, and Teri Poindexter, of San Antonio, Texas, are pleased to announce the engagement and approaching wedding of their daughter, Ashley Ryan Chandler, of Ruston, to Justin Heath Wyatt, of Weston.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. TL Poindexter, of Opelousas, Barbara Hedrick, of San Antonio, Texas, and of the late Mr. and Mrs. Homer Chandler, of Bienville.
Ashley is a 2005 alumna of Ruston High School. She is employed at Ashley Chandler Photography and Training Logic, Inc.
