Edwin Alexander “Buck” Peden

Edwin Alexander “Buck” Peden, 75 of Suffolk, VA and formerly of El Dorado died Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Sentara Obici Hospital following a lengthy illness. Born November 8, 1935 in Ruston, Louisiana he was the son of Robert Alexander and Lois Spinks Peden who preceded him in death. Ed was a graduate of Ruston High School and attended Louisiana Tech where he was a member of the Tech Band and served as President of Phi Kappa Alpha fraternity. Upon graduation with a degree in chemical engineering, he married his college sweetheart, Julie Ann Wooley in the summer of 1958.

Bank of Ruston Chief Executive Officer Benny Denny won the Ruston-Lincoln Chamber of Commerce’s highest honor when he was presented with the 2010 Robert E. Russ Award Tuesday night during the organization’s annual gala.

Superintendent given a raise; audit is clean

Money was on the mind of the Lincoln Parish School Board during their monthly meeting Tuesday night. Among the agenda items were a report by an independent auditor and Superintendent Danny Bell’s contract renewal. Board members also discussed the potential hiring of an insurance consultant, purchasing a piece of land in Simsboro and changing part of the Choudrant High School plan.
