The Russ-Town Band held its annual Christmas concert at the Dixie Center for the Arts Dec. 16.
As a community service, the concert was free but attendees were asked to bring either a toy to donate to the Ruston Jaycees Toys for Tots drive or a food item to donate to Christian Community Action. In the above picture CCA Director Stephanie Griffin receives the donated food from John Emory Jr., the programming director for the Dixie Center for the Arts.

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Jasmine Bendolph and her Louisiana Tech teammates took a small bite out of the Big Apple.
Bendolph and the Lady Techsters were in New York last weekend for the Chartwell Holiday Classic hosted by St. John’s and found a little time away from the basketball court to experience life in the big city.
Following their triple overtime win over Prairie View A&M on Sunday, the majority of the Tech travel party loaded the team bus and headed into the City where they made stops at Madison Square Garden, Ground Zero and Times Square.

in

West Monroe High has another state championship for its trophy case and its legendary head coach gives much of the credit to its district affiliation.

Tech football future bright

What started out like gloom and doom for Louisiana Tech University’s football team this season ended with a Christmas-like spirit.
When fans in Tech Nation reflect back on 2011, they’ll remember it in two different ways.
First, there was that sluggish start, one in which the Bulldogs lost four of their first five games and appeared to be relegated to the lower echelon of the Western Athletic Conference standings, just as various preseason prognosticators had predicted.

New approach to selling online

Hatch, Dora Ann.jpg

Over a year ago, the LSU AgCenter and its partners launched the MarketMaker website, an Internet based program that provides sellers of food products (principally small and medium sized operations) an efficient means of communicating product availability to potential buyers.
It’s like an online farmers market. MarketMaker offers buyers a convenient Internet search tool to locate products they want, either directly from producers or through some other channel.

Daughter’s weight poses concern

in
Rosemond, John.jpg

Question: Our 4-year-old daughter’s weight (25 pounds) is at the first percentile for her age, but she is otherwise healthy, energetic, creative, polite and well-behaved.
Our only real problem occurs at meals during which she picks at and dawdles over her food. We end up coaxing her to finish, telling her how important it is for her to eat so she’ll grow, and so on. Sometimes, she has been there so long we’ve taken her plate away, but we are reluctant to do that because we don’t want her losing any weight. Are we worrying for nothing?
