‘Do something’ in the New Year

As the New Year approaches many individuals are taking a moment to pause and think about their past year. Some may even dare to come up with the dreaded “New Year’s Resolution.” This year the North Central Louisiana Arts Council would like to encourage you to “do something” rather than “give up something.” As a small minimally staffed office we rely heavily on volunteers.

Local clubs donate to CCA

Recently the Russ Town Mud Slingers ATV Club and The Rolling Lincolnite Tailgaters held food drives for Christian Community Action.

Men rally past Spring Hill, women lose lead against LSU

For both Louisiana Tech University teams at the Thomas Assembly Center Thursday night, it was a classic case of two different halves.
Good one half, bad another.
The Bulldogs (8-6) experienced the good part by overcoming a sluggish first half to take a 69-41 victory over NAIA affililate Spring Hill College (8-3).

Ex-Tech head coach could be on ‘hot seat’ at Tennessee

Vols’ nation is getting restless.
After two years as head coach, Derek Dooley is reportedly approaching a White-Out mode for the University of Tennessee football program.
The former head coach at Louisiana Tech University is No. 1 on a list of collegiate “Coaches on the Hot Seat” recently compiled for the December issue of Sporting News magazine.

Creek teams split games at tourney

Cedar Creek High’s girls continued their perfect performance at the Sterlington High tournament on Thursday with a 43-34 win over Simsboro.
Ruby Richie had 13 points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals to lead the Lady Cougars.
Allison Ewing, Blair Bennett and Jordan Davis had six rebounds each for the Creek team. Ewing also scored eight points along with Victoria Pardue, who added on five rebounds, two steals and two assists.

G-Men fall to LSU, 69-37

BATON ROUGE — The LSU Tigers equaled a near 60-year mark for holding opposing teams under 60 points Thursday night with a 69-37 decision over the Grambling Tigers at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
The Tigers are now 10-3 on the season, winners of seven straight, while Grambling falls to 0-10. The LSU Tigers play their final non-conference game on Monday night at 6 p.m. against Virginia, which is riding a nine-game winning streak of their own and is 11-1 entering Friday night’s game with Towson.

The property is located to the east of Rose Street and north of Highway 80. Bids will be accepted until 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at which time they will be opened. Complete specifications and requirements for this project may be obtained from the office of the Superintendent at 410 South Farmerville Street, during regular business hours of 8:00 – 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday.
