Bulldogs’ losses all feel bad

Whether it’s by one point or 18 points, a loss is a loss for Louisiana Tech University’s football team this season.
Going into Saturday night’s Western Athletic Conference-opening game against Hawaii at Joe Aillet Stadium, the Bulldogs (1-4, 0-1) had lost two games by two or fewer points.
Against the Warriors (3-2, 1-0) got whipped by 18 points at 44-26.
Maybe the differential was different, but the feeling was the same.

Tech Hall: All about family

From start to finish, the emphasis was on “family” and “people” at Saturday afternoon’s ceremonies for the 2011 induction class of Louisiana Tech University’s athletics Hall of Fame.
More than the long list of accomplishments, records and statistics compiled by the “Elite Eight” who comprised the group, this was about remembering those who helped make the special day possible.

GSU takes week off to regroup

GRAMBLING — Grambling State University gets a week off to return to a “startup” mode for the 2011 season.
The Tigers (1-4, 1-3) will be idle Saturday before resuming its schedule on Oct. 15 with a home game against Concordia College.
Grambling suffered its fourth straight loss last weekend with a 31-23 finale against Prairie View A&M in a Southwestern Athletic Conference Western Division showdown at the Cotton Bowl stadium in Dallas.

RPAR hosts football skills’ competition

Chauncey Lee, Kate Lisbon, Josh Begale, Parker Madden, Cole Liston and Anna Logan were first place finishers in the recent NFL “Punt, Pass and Kick” local competition hosted by the Ruston Parks and Recreation Department.
Lee was the champ for the 6-7 boys’ division, while Kate Liston won the title in the girls’ 8-9 category. Begale captured top honors for the boys’ 8-9 division, Madden was the winner of the boys’ 10-11 division, Cole Liston topped all competitors in the boys’ 12-13 category and Logan was the leading performer in the girls’ 14-15 division.
