Price and Parker unite

Kathryn Price of Shreveport and Robert Parker of Keithville were united in marriage at 1 o’clock in the afternoon on April 17 at Brookwood Baptist Church in Shreveport. The ceremony was officiated by Rev. John Harp.

DART seeks help to prepare children for school

The fourth annual Domestic Abuse Resistance Team School Uniform and Supplies Drive is under way.
Each year, DART organizes two major fundraisers for children. One is the Christmas Angel Tree, and the other is the School Uniform and Supplies Drive.
DART child advocate Tiffany Lockett said both events are opportunities for the community to get involved and play a part in the lives of children who are affected by domestic violence.

Jurors prep to fill Movie Gallery space

Lincoln Parish Police Jurors might soon have a new tenant in the space previously occupied by Movie Gallery.
The Movie Gallery corporation filed for bankruptcy earlier this year, and the local video store recently closed its doors.
Along with Dollar General and a couple of other businesses, the Ruston Movie Gallery was located in the old County Market building, which was purchased by the Police Jury with a $1.5 million bank loan last year.

Simsboro now home to manned firehouse

SIMSBORO — As of Monday morning, the Village of Simsboro is the new home to a full-time manned fire station.
Chief Dennis Ford said the new addition to the Lincoln Parish Fire District No. 1 was already in place, but the new full-time positions required renovations to include suitable living quarters for the firefighters.
“It’s always been here,” Ford said. “It was the Village of Simsboro station before they incorporated into the fire district.”
