Tech receives grant for parenting academy

The Lincoln Health Foundation has awarded a $53,000 grant to Louisiana Tech University’s School of Human Ecology to establish the Parents’ Academy for Lincoln Parish Schools and Parental Health & Educational Support Network.
These programs, developed by Tech professors Heather McCollum, Mary Murimi, Jan Colvin, Amy Yates and Yeonsoo Kim, will provide parents of Lincoln Parish students with health education and family support resources.

Ag Expo set Jan. 15-16

The 28th Annual Ag Expo, sponsored by the North Louisiana Agri-Business Council, will be held Jan. 15 and 16 at the Ike Hamilton Expo Center in West Monroe.
Show hours are 2-8 p.m. Jan. 15 and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Jan. 16.
Advance tickets are now on sale at all locations of Goldman Equipment, Louisiana Land Bank in Monroe, LSU Ag Center in West Monroe and Irrigation Mart in Ruston.
Tickets are $5; children under 6 are admitted free. Tickets may also be purchased at the event.

Turbo Goat helps Cub Scouts earn badge

Turbo Goat Bicycle Shop hosted Pack 59’s Bear Scouts on Dec. 11. Chris Bartlett, owner of Turbo Goat, taught the scouts rules for bike safety and how to repair and maintain their bicycles. With the new bicycle knowledge, the scouts are one step closer to earning their Bear Scout badge.

Creek students donate 380 lb. of dog food to 4 PAWS Rescue

Ministry offers support on spiritual journey

“The purpose of everything we do is to restore the soul, to have the opportunity to reconcile with God, themselves and neighbors,” Brewton said. “We want to fabricate a community.”
She said there are three main things the organization wants to do in the community.
“We want to offer spiritual formation, which is an offering for people to come and be open to God’s movement in their souls,” Brewton said. “We want to help people to deepen their inner-life with God, and we want to help those people who don’t know God to come to know him.”

Grambling youth adopt a cemetery

Members of Grambling State University’s Black Empowerment Apprenticeship Program spent their time cleaning burial sites Tuesday as part of the Adopt a Burial Site Project. These activities are ongoing throughout the year.
