New video board pumps up excitement at Tech

Bearcats have tough football slate

“Honestly, the As don’t mean that much when you’re talking about the caliber of programs in the state,” said RHS coach Billy Laird. “One of the best teams anywhere last year and for the past several years has been Bastrop and they’re in 4A.”

Preparing for 20-year reunion

Yes, the intrigue of our cat and mouse dance-of-death with our high school pasts are rooted in transformative promise as well as the ability to lay checkmate on the people whose faces and personalities gave us hell long before the All-American Rejects did this spring. And speaking of rejects, if you were more Urkel than Zack Morris, and more Gabriella Montez than Kelly Kapowski, then you probably weren’t saved by the bell at all. Rife are the stories of de-pantsing in gym class, failed date attempts and inaccessible entry into the cool pool that ruled the school.

Time for our community to go green

A contingent of concerned citizens wants to take their green efforts to the next level with the help of local government. These residents are pushing for a comprehensive recycling program, complete with curbside pick-up as well as drop-off locations for recyclables including paper, plastic, glass, aluminum, cardboard and more.

Resident indicted on porn charges

Authorities in Kenner approached Ruston police last year with two warrants for Gabriel’s arrest. Kenner detectives arrested Gabriel in October and charged him with five counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile and one count of computer-aided solicitation for sexual purposes.
Kenner police said Gabriel had sexual conversations online with one of their undercover officers, who posed as a juvenile.
Police said Gabriel had child pornography on his computer in Ruston.
