Tech alumni join funding fight

“Dr. Reneau said that he’d been cut something like 15 of the years he’s been at Tech,” Allen said. “And this is by far the largest cut ever. The discussion just kind of grew out of that —  contacting legislators to find another place to cut other than the university level.”
He said filing complaints and concerns is necessary to get action on the issue.

Parish track teams go for titles

Both have been on their “game” this spring, unleashing the best throws for their classification as well as being among the top performers in the country.
Figure on the trend continuing at the state meet, where Friday’s competition will also have schools in Class 2A going for awards following Thursday’s round consisting of Class B and C; the three-day meet will wrap up Saturday with events in 5A, 4A and 3A.
Aldredge and Cox will be two of Lincoln Parish’s leading candidates to bring home first place trophies.

Lessons not learned in jail

So even though the local jail doesn’t look like a torture chamber, I can’t imagine it would be too many people’s first choice for a place to live. But it seems the threat of a few months in jail is not a deterrent for some people when it comes to doing what they feel like doing. Prisons and parish incarceration facilities are often filled with repeat offenders. Sometimes they commit additional offenses while they are out on bond still awaiting their court date for a first offense.

Keep effort going to save Pilgrim's

We can’t afford the mistake of allowing ourselves to feel like this deal will sail through the Legislature. While even some of the critics of the bill were OK with it once it came time to vote on it in committee this week, there is no telling what kind of political games could await on the House floor. We know our representatives are aware of the impact that Foster Farms’ buyout could have in keeping the area’s agriculture and economy robust.
