It's time to end drama in Grambling

This week, Mayor Martha Andrus is dealing with just that — Third District Judge Jay McCallum issued judgment Friday that held Andrus in contempt for knowingly and purposefully keeping clerk Pamela Stringfellow from returning to her normal job duties.
That’s not the end of this, by any means. The problems are more than a year old now.

Daring women make history

At school dances, young girls will giggle nervously and wait for one of their bolder friends to get out on the floor to show off their moves before they join in. Some men and women wouldn’t think about running a 5K until they see someone twice their age doing it and begin to toy with the idea of, “Maybe I’m capable of doing that, too.”
Those individuals who do have the courage to get their feet wet before anyone else nears the water keep their eyes on their goal, swimming forward despite what others might think or what obstacles could submerge.

’Dogs close out regular season

It all depends on how seven games to be held through Saturday play out.
Tech will be at Idaho (14-14, 7-7) for its final regular challenge tonight starting at 10:05 p.m.
The rest of the league slate for tonight will have Fresno State (12-18, 3-11) at Boise State (18-10, 8-6) and San Jose State (13-14, 6-8) at Nevada (17-11, 9-5).
Saturday will officially close out regular season action for all teams. Fresno State will be at
Idaho, New Mexico State (15-14, 8-7) will go to Hawaii (13-15, 5-10), Nevada will trek to Boise State and San Jose State will head to Utah State (26-4, 13-2).

Moret talks of strength at awards breakfast

“All of these people have done a great job with their businesses and are important parts of our economy,” Hollingsworth said of the winners.
State Secretary of Economic Development Stephen Moret was keynote speaker at the event and said that while Louisiana, and the northern part of the state in particular, is finally feeling effects of the worldwide recession, he sees things getting better by late 2009.
