Techsters ready to make impact

“Our team is close to really getting on a positive streak,” he said during a media luncheon earlier this week. “We’ve lost five of our games this season by 10 points or less. There’s been some disappointing losses, but the effort has been there.”
One of those disappointing losses was a 64-57 defeat against Nevada in Reno last week.
But two games later, the Techsters survived an overtime against Utah State and left Logan, Utah, with a 90-82 victory.

Speaker's advice rings true

Rita Pierson told a roomful of parents at the Ruston Civic Center that chores are important, and parents should not be “martyrs” by eventually doing the chores for children if they don’t get up and do them in a timely manner.
“If little Jessica doesn’t clean up the kitchen, wake her up at 2 a.m. and say it’s time to wash the dishes,” said the former special education teacher and assistant principal from Houston. “Kids these days when you ask them to clean up around their desk (at school), they think that’s the janitor’s job.”

New PSC rule is ethics model

Because of that, establishing fair and equitable pricing regulations is of utmost importance. Wednesday’s vote, which prohibits members of the PSC staff from accepting free meals from utility companies, removes a subtle but significant road block in the path of unbiased and ethical representation of Louisiana’s residents.

Jury names new president, VP

Several jurors spoke at once to nominate Annie Brown for the vice president’s post. Joe Henderson then moved that nominations cease, and Levy again asked for opposition.
Hearing none, he declared Brown the vice president.
Brown moved to nominate Dennis Woodward as administrator, and David Hammons moved to close nominations after Brown’s motion was seconded. Levy asked for opposition, and hearing none, closed nominations and declared Woodward the administrator.
It is unclear whether the selection procedure will require a second look.
