Drink in Sparta-saving strategies

The depleting aquifer provides drinking water to residents in 14 parishes across north Louisiana. Locally, we rely 100 percent on the Sparta for our water.
It’s our responsibility to use only what we need year-round, but especially during these summer months. We can’t afford to waste one drop of our precious Sparta water. Once it’s gone, our community will be in dire straits.
Here are some tips for conserving water during everyday summertime activities:

’Dogs: Reporting time draws near

As was the case last year when Derek Dooley began his duties as head coach, all practice sessions by the ‘Dogs will be closed to the public.
Tech will have 41 lettermen and 14 starters returning from last year’s 5-7 squad which missed being eligible for an NCAA-sanctioned postseason appearance by only one game; a 49-10 loss in Reno against Western Athletic Conference opponent Nevada prevented the Bulldogs from achieving bowl eligibility.

Students get jumpstart on their college careers

“These are all some of the best students at their respective high schools. When most new freshmen arrive on campus, they believe it’s all going to be one big party. And because these are all top students, they might think that they might not have to study as much.
They don’t realize how competitive college is and how advanced the college curriculum is. The High Ability program gives the students attending it the chance to see how demanding college really is.”
