Lady Bearcats’ duo in All-Star game

Along with that tandem being chosen for the prestigious postseason honor will be recognition for two other players on the Lady Bearcats’ squad that posted an overall record of 23-10 and won a District 2-5A championship with an 8-1 mark.
Katie Clark and Maggie Johnson will join Albritton as a recipient of the 2008 Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s All-Academic composite team, comprised of student-athletes from all classifications.

The dark side of America

Let us turn to our presidential candidates. John McCain, a decorated prisoner of war, may be able to turn things around. Will he recognize 275 million of his own constituents who are prisoners of the trade federation in the oil industry who now must choose whether to drive to work or feed their families? Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are so concerned about beating each other and winning the Democratic Party nomination, that the platform of “change” that was once a resounding battle cry has deafened in a silence of nationalistic fear.

Bored? See what’s on tap downtown

Be sure to mark your calendars for the Mississippi Street Art Block on May 17. Lots of local artists will set up booths along Mississippi Street starting at 10 a.m. for what is sure to be a showcase of some of Ruston’s greatest talents.
Proceeds from sales benefit the artists, which will allow them to thrive here and let other artists know that Ruston is a place where the arts are supported and valued.

Art Block builds up local works

“Jackie and I were visiting one day trying to think of ideas and (we) said let’s make this happen,” said Hudson, owner of Visual Designs.
Among the one-of-a-kind items that will be for sale are mixed media paintings, sculpture, photography, reinvented vintage jewelry and painted gourds.
