Lady Vols: Another NCAA title

About the only problem Hall of Fame coach Pat Summitt seemed to have all night was cutting down the net. She celebrated as each of her players cut down a piece of string, then climbed up the ladder to take the rest of the net.
She needed three tries to get it — hardly looking like an eight-time champion who’s done it more often than anyone but UCLA men’s coach John Wooden. Summitt is now two short of his record.
When she finally cut the thread, she waved it high above her head and blew kisses to the Tennessee faithful.

Wear a helmet either way, motorcyclists

If we graduate from bicycles to faster, more dangerous forms of two-wheeled conveyance, it would stand to that same line of reasoning to bring the helmet and pads with you.
The trick riders who make a living through risking their life at high speeds and in mid-air swear by them.
But, the proponent of wind-in-the-hair motorcycle riding might think there is a huge difference between riding a motorcycle professionally and recreationally.

University news shows future

The reasoning is pretty simple: evidence of our need to develop new and more efficient ways of doing almost everything we do is in front of us every day. Tech’s researchers are reaching for new days, and knowing that gives you a sense things aren’t all so bad.
Ugh. Gas prices. There’s a prime example of a place for technology improvement. Prices, of course, depend on where you are, and around here, we’re not enjoying our $3.50+ gallons. And the prices of bread, eggs and milk are striking because of it. Those costs are passed to us everywhere we look.

Tech to host Vince Dooley

• Jason Fierman — marketing publications director for the athletic department at Louisiana State University-Baton Rouge. He spoke on building the brand, visual imagery and the capitalizing on national championships.
• Charlie Jones — former member of the San Antonio Spurs, who has worked in evaluating talent and placing a value on each free agent or player eligible for a draft.
