Dixie hosts ‘Comedy of Errors’

In this fast-moving play, a case of mistaken identity unfolds as characters from planets Comedia and Errata encounter a series of conflicts.
“I thought it would be a lot of fun to do the play this way, because it’s a big fight choreography show, and youngsters play the Dromios (or droids),” said Webb, a former Cedar Creek School teacher who is making her directorial debut with RCT. “There are two sets of identical twins separated at birth by a space accident.”

Suit against parish goes to trial

She has cited loss of companionship, household services and support, as well as grief and mental damages.
A bench trial is set for Monday.
The suit previously included the state’s Department of Transportation and Development among the defendants, but action against the state agency was dismissed in April 2007.
Girl Scout Road serves as a connector between U.S. 80 and La. 147 in southern Lincoln Parish, basically on the border of Bienville Parish.

Bearcats have two all-staters

He was also announced as a nominee for the annual McDonald’s All-American team, which is considered as the elite of the postseason prep all-star clubs.
Brown was one of two representatives from Ruston High on the All-State squad, as junior guard Davion Spivey was among the honorable mention recipients.
The team that was selected by a panel of LSWA voters tabbed 6-7 senior Kendrick Washington of Shreveport Huntington as the Outstanding Player and Andrew Caillouet of H.L. Bourgeois and Cliftn Brown of Lafayette High as the co-Coach of the Year winners.

Online safety class teaches precautions

National statistics show that one in seven kids between the ages of 10 and 17 have received a sexual solicitation online. One in three have experienced unwanted exposure to sexual material on the Internet.
It’s the community’s job to protect children, and the upcoming seminar makes Lincoln Parish’s best resources available to the public. Louisiana Tech is partnering with the Ruston Police Department to provide parents and children the tips and precautions they need to stay safe online.

Girl's story serves as warning

Kacie was a happy, innocent child, who cooked dinner for herself and did her homework without being told. She was also a naïve, typical seventh-grade girl on the brink of adolescence, who was beginning to experiment with boys.
Unfortunately, her quest for love had led her to the Internet — on more than one occasion. And ultimately, this would be the source of young Kacie’s untimely demise.

• The base stabilization and overlay of Louisiana 545 from Louisiana 151 to Louisiana 146.
• The overlay of Louisiana 544 from Barnett Springs Avenue to Interstate 20.
• Improvements on Louisiana 821 from Louisiana 33 to Louisiana 820.
Additionally, Downs said $45 million for bridge placements and improvements could funnel down to Lincoln Parish.

’Dogs return to work Tuesday

Tech will also have another 4 p.m. practice on Thursday before meeting at Joe Aillet Stadium on Saturday for the scrimmage of the spring. A starting time will be announced later in the week.
“When you take four days off, it’s important for each player to learn how to be disciplined and stay active,” Dooley said.
Each of the players were provided with a regiment to follow during the four-day break, which marked the end of the first week of spring practice for the squad.

Team, coach need support from fans

For fans and supporters of the program, now is not the time to give up. The Lady Techsters need their community to rally around them as they face the uphill battle of improving upon this year’s 16-15 record.
We can all take a cue from Lady Techsters super fan Leonard Green, who shows his unfailing support and his “Love those Lady Techsters” sign at every home game.

Antiques can reveal the past

“If we didn’t have antiques from the past, we’d lose a lot of our (history),” Sandra Hogg, owner of Acorn Creek Antiques and Books said. “Young people would not be able to understand what was.”
Gradually, my husband and I have become avid collectors of old glass bottles, most of which contained medicinal elixirs, and we have queried many antique dealers about the origins and histories of the vessels.
Even the history of bottle making can reveal our country’s past and a different way of life.
