Bulldogs start baseball season

But tonight and over the course of the next couple of months, the Bulldogs will start finding out just how special this 2008 campaign might be before it’s all over.
Tech will start the new season with a 6 p.m. single game against McNeese State, then follow up with a single contest on Saturday at 3 p.m. and then another single game on Sunday at 1 p.m.
It’s a later start than usual for the Bulldogs, what with a change in the WAC scheduling format, so it’s understandable that players and coaches on the team are more than a little anxious to get things going.

Choudrant set to lead parish by example

What's in store for Cuba?

A second and more likely option is what some observers call the China or Vietnam model. Under this scenario, the Communist party would retain firm control of the Cuban government, while enacting economic reforms designed to encourage private enterprise and the free market. This could lead to economic growth and development, bringing material prosperity to the island as modest compensation for the continued denial of political freedom. Raúl Castro has made hints in this direction, but it remains to be seen what action he will actually take.

City fire department puts out photography

“He just came in and was taking some fun pictures,” Brazzel said. “We came up to use it as a marketing tool for the fire department.”
Hawkins said he was excited to take on the project.
“I had a discussion with the fire chief and said ‘I’d love to do something,’ ” he said. “He thought it’d be good for the public to see what it is they do and put some faces to the department.”
