Creek, Choudrant girls end season

The Lady Cougars (18-11) were dealing with the state’s No. 1 ranked Class 1-A squad in Southern Lab, which boosted its winning streak to 15 games and raised its overall record to 29-2.
Jordan Ingram was the leading scorer for Cedar Creek with six points and adding on five points was Lauren Kirkland and with two each were Kadee Malone, Kaitlin Farris and Kadee Malone.

Farmers markets ripe with assets

A farmers market has the potential to attract visitors to Ruston from all over the immediate area. Bringing people and tax dollars into our city is always a good thing.
Along with establishing a community forum for local growers, the farmers market organizers also are taking steps to keep it as environmentally friendly as possible.
Limiting the travel distance for participants will reduce gasoline use and vehicle emissions. Making reusable grocery bags available also will reduce waste from plastic or paper bags.

Time — where does it all go?

“Best laid plans?” At this, I scoff. I’m a new reporter with her hands full. Forget New Year’s resolutions; it’s hard for me to keep up at work.

Group cheers team to wins

Ruston High has won eight of its last 10 games and has a 29-6 overall record.
“We have a good team,” Pearce said. “I wanted to support Coach Bush and what he’s done.”
Chris Bush, RHS basketball coach, estimates that there is usually a crowd of 50 or more in the cheering section.
“They came to me and asked if I mind them calling it Bush’s Boys,” he said. “I thought it would be 10-15 kids.”
The excitement of one game led Pearce to make the Bush’s Boys T-shirts, and soon plenty of students joined the cheering section.
