The four-year letter winner totaled nearly 300 tackles in his Bulldogs’ career, has been selected twice to the All-Louisiana squad and was a Rivals.com all-league representative as a junior.

Enjoy the holidays safely

Many of these children haven’t lived the greatest lives themselves, but that hasn’t stopped them from seeing the true meaning of the Christmas season and giving back to those in need.
Not only did the children of the MCH decorate the gift shoe boxes, many of them sacrificed $5 or $10 from their monthly allowances to purchase goods such as hygiene supplies, school supplies, hard candy, winter clothing and toys.

State to get hurricane relief funds

Thankfully, when the politicians in Washington, D.C., took a moment to focus their attention on issues other than the financial meltdown, they realized that Louisiana has some pressing needs.
Hurricane Gustav, with Hurricane Ike on its heels, brought devastation across the state in September. Areas of southwest Louisiana, still struggling to rebuild after Hurricane Rita, were submerged again by storm surge. Even in north Louisiana, heavy rains flooded homes, businesses and farmland, causing major setbacks in the local economy.

Teachers’ checks come just in time

Lincoln Parish School Board business manager George Murphy said these figures were up 25 percent from last year’s “13th check” due to sales tax collection increases from oil and gas extraction and construction of a gas pipeline in the parish.
Employees are expected to receive another supplemental check in June, which Murphy said is typically higher than the November check. At one time, employees received one large supplemental check in the summer, but in 2000, school board members divided the supplements into two checks, so part of the money might be utilized for holiday shopping.
