Tech, GSU: An historic game

“That makes this game even more unbelievable and exciting for its fans,” said Tech coach Kerry Rupp. “This is a game that Karl Malone (former Tech, NBA star from Summerfield), who grew up in the area, has often talked about that needed to be played and our team and fans are looking forward to it. It’s great for both schools.”
For Rick Duckett, it will also mean his debut as the new coach at Grambling, where he takes over the reigns after having served as an assistant coach at the University of South Carolina.

Tech, GSU take step forward

Our two parish universities have worked hand in hand for years, even combining to offer collaborative classes, where students from one university attend classes with the students at the other school.
But never before have Lincoln Parish residents been treated to being able to see their two college teams take their friendly rivalry to the floor. Not until tonight.
Both schools have incredibly rich basketball histories. Eddie Robinson is a household name in the United States. Fred Hobdy’s should be.

Take support of the arts beyond Tour

Communicating the message that Lincoln Parish values and nurtures the arts is key to keeping our talent here. Many residents have been working in recent years to brand Ruston and the parish as a hotspot for artists, and that work must continue.
As Louisiana Tech University moves forward with its Enterprise Campus and invests in the tech economy here, that work must be balanced by a creative outlet.

Grambling awaits ruling

McCallum heard arguments from both sides and is reviewing the case. He is expected to announce his findings sometime this week.
“Both sides appeared before Judge McCallum and presented their case,” Grambling City Councilman Edward Jones said. “Now we just have to wait for his decision.”
Grambling’s city government has faced much infighting during the past year, but tempers seemed to cool in June as both parties agreed to a compromise to settle a lawsuit filed by the council on May 16. McCallum heard the lawsuit and requested both parties work out their differences.
