Prepsters have busy ’07 slate

• Ruston High School will play two of their long-time rivals early and late, starting off on Aug. 31 at home against Monroe Neville and then entertaining West Monroe on Oct. 19.
• Like parish and district rival Grambling High, Cedar Creek has four games at home and they bunch ‘em up both late and early in the schedule. The Cougars’ first two challenges are at their own stadium and two of their last three are at home.
Thus are some of the quirks to the fall gridiron slates for the Bearcats, Kittens and Cougars.

Teach them responsibility

In addition to offering a local alternative school, some efforts are also being made to deter behavior problems before they escalate.
For those students who obtained more than one suspension, Lincoln Parish School Board partnered with New Living Word Ministries last year to offer a program at the latter facility. Instead of going home and watching television during their time out of school, students could attend this program where they were provided academic skills and made to look at their own behavior in the situation which got them suspended.

Landrieu visits Lincoln

“You’ve shown that our universities can have a real impact on new and emerging technology in the defense industry,” Landrieu said.
Landrieu said — as she did at each stop during the day — that Barksdale Air Force Base in Shreveport stands a good chance of being named the home of the U.S. military’s new Cyberspace Command.
“We need to be able to produce the scientists to support this command,” Landrieu said.
“You have my complete support in all that you do.”
