Thomas slams 500th home run

Todd Eisenlohr, sitting in the fifth row and wearing a jersey of Twins player Jason Bartlett jersey, caught the ball in his glove.
“I lost it in the roof as it was coming down,” Eisenlohr said. He said he traded the souvenir ball for an autographed ball, bat and jersey.
The Metrodome crowd gave Thomas a standing ovation. The two-time AL MVP took his home run trot and then pointed toward the suites down the right-field line when he crossed the plate as Toronto players spilled out of the dugout to congratulate him.

Boy scout volunteers leave legacy

The Beard family also includes three sons who are Eagle Scouts. In his 12 years as scoutmaster of Troop 45, Wayne Beard has served more than 200 scouts and their families. In the troop’s 90-year history, more than half the Eagle Scout awards have been earned during his tenure, with six Eagles awarded last year alone. The Beards both have been awarded the Silver Beaver Award and been selected for the Vigil Honor, one of the highest ranks in Boy Scouts.

Surviving the uncertainy

Everything about the festival has gotten an upgrade including the guest appearances. It would have been hard to top last year’s luncheon with Greta van Susteran, but this year was another headliner.
Squire Creek returned to Fox News for international journalist Steve Centanni, and Centanni kept an audience of hundreds spellbound about his 2006 kidnapping by Palestinian gunmen in Gaza City. The journalist now speaks nationally about the dangers of reporting on the job.
