Jury receives clean audit

Hulsey briefly went through the report with the Jury. Hulsey also presented the Humanitarian Enterprises of Lincoln Parish (H.E.L.P.) Agency’s 2006 Audit Report. Like the Police Jury’s audit, H.E.L.P. received an unqualified opinion with no findings.
The Jury quickly approved the reports.
When it came time for the next item on the agenda — awarding the bid of the Jury’s new Highway Department office building and shop — the body found itself in a bit of a dilemma. Garcia Construction of Homer and Pohlman & Wilbanks of Monroe both presented the same low bid of $624,000.

Bradshaw makes all-time list

Now, he’s on an official list for such recognition.
Bradshaw has been chosen as one of the top 25 NFL players of all time, as chosen by the sports staff of USA Today.
The national newspaper recently published its rankings of the league’s all-time best players and had the Shreveport native and four-time Super Bowl winning quarterback in the No. 23 slot.
Bradshaw, who prepped at Woodlawn High School, was the No. 1 selection

Cross with extreme caution

Some people get in a rush and attempt to race across a train track even when they are aware a train is approaching, believing they can beat it. If their judgment was off slightly or if for some reason they develop car troubles while attempting to slide past the fast-moving train, it could mean instant death or serious injury for not only the driver but for anyone else in the car and possibly someone on the train.

Career portrayals deceiving

Since this time I’ve learned better. Just like with most careers, reporters must learn to work with a lot of different personality types, pay attention to details, develop the ability to multi-task and stay focused on a goal despite the curve balls life can throw.
When I was 13 and dreaming of being Lois Lane, I didn’t think about things like that. I only thought about the parts of the job that seemed exciting, like reporting on a catastrophe or traveling to other cities to cover newsworthy events.

GSU to get $3.8M renewal

“This investment into Grambling’s future will empower the administration, faculty, staff and student body to build upon the legacy Grambling’s founders created,” Alexander said. “It will be exciting to see what GSU can accomplish in the next few years with the help of this funding.”
HBCU awards provide financial assistance to establish or strengthen the academic resources, financial management, endowments and physical plants of historically black colleges or universities and to enhance these institutions.
GSU Provost Robert Dixon said the grant is actually a renewal.
