Magic, knights to be revived

Of course, whoever is busy tonight can catch this month’s Historical Happenings on Thursday with Louisiana Tech University professor Jace Stuckey. Presenting “The Knights Templar: History and Myth,” Stuckey’s lecture will focus on the medieval and modern myths that surround the Knights Templar order, from the Holy Grail to the Freemasons and the Da Vinci Code. He’s interested in every facet of my life because he loves me more than his own life.
That’s a real dad there. Some of you may need to take notes.

Graduation rate on the rise

Both Louisiana and Lincoln Parish School District have shown vast improvement over the last decade in the area of graduation rates. Whereas the national average only improved four percentage points between 1995 to 2004, Louisiana improved almost seven and Lincoln Parish has gone up more than 15 percentage points.
“It’s all a matter of schools trying to hold onto the students,” Bell said. “I think (the increase is due to) the programs we have put in overtime to keep up with their skills.”
