HCR aimed at erasing paperwork

“We’re not talking about doing lesson plans, grading papers, and meeting with parents,” said Polly Broussard, A+PEL executive director. “Those are all directly related to instruction and contribute to the well-being of the students. We’re talking about red tape that is so out of control it is threatening to turn teachers into clerks instead of educators.”
Some of these duties could include filling out accident and disciplinary reports, forms regarding suspensions and expulsions and answering follow-up emails.

Technology could reduce paperwork

“It’s a hassle, but it’s something good,” Stepp said. “GLE’s are really beneficial because you know the kids are getting what they need to succeed.”
Some teachers are concerned all of the additional paperwork robs them of valuable energy needed to focus on planning classroom activities. Fortunately, the Lincoln Parish School System is looking for a means to reduce time spent on paperwork by switching to an electronic grading book system.

’Dogs could be in line for honors

Rike, earlier tagged as the Most Valuable Player in the Western Athletic Conference, is in the running for the state’s Hitter of the Year.
Simoneaux, who earned the top coaching award for the league, is on the list of prospects for the Coach of the Year.
Also nominated for one of the team’s top awards is Dennis Winn, a senior shortstop who is one of nine individuals on the ballot for Newcomer of the Year.
Overall, Tech has a total of eight players on the nomination charts for the squad which is voted on by members of the LSWA.

Jury certifies assessor’s list

The first five attempts to select a journal resulted in a 5-5 vote. Jurors Joyce Huntington, Mickey Mays, Bobby Dowling, Roy Glover and Jody Backus voted to select The Leader, while jurors Eddie Allen, Terry Knowles, Charles Owens, David Hammons and Joe Henderson opted for The Morning Paper.
Jurors Annette Albritton and Annie Brown were absent.
