Aggies have Zwolle at home

“But Zwolle came back on us and made it close. Fortunately, we were able to get out with a win.”
It just might be another close, down-to-the-final inning affair at the Aggies’ diamond this weekend, what with both clubs ranked among the state’s top 10 for ‘B’ members.
Choudrant (27-9-1) is No. 3 and Zwolle (19-6-0) No. 5 in the final Louisiana Baseball Coaches Association poll announced earlier this week.

Ruston on the grow with businesses

One of the additions in the new 37,000 square foot development will have a special meaning to area residents because its owner and developer and his family have direct ties to the area which have been strengthened by their relocation here following a total family loss at the behest of Hurricane Katrina.
The business is the 32-state-wide WOW Wingery and Café-fast, casual cafe dining which will be highlighted by more than 30 flat screen television sets for dining pleasure and entertainment and by extensive collections of sports memorabilia.

Worth a thousand words

But it came to mind more in the realm of what we see each day in the work from our community of local photographers than in any other aspect.
From time to time The Ruston Daily Leader publishes special sections which feature the cover and interior work of local photographers, and if my habit is any indication there are people who keep those far longer than the usual issues which lack this special work.

Backus battles back from snake bite

The guys reached their spot, a creek that crosses U.S. 80 a couple of miles east of Choudrant. They quickly hit the water and began to cool off.
“Off to our left there was a beaver dammed area where the water was pretty shallow,” Backus said. “First we raced, then we started wrestling.”
Backus said he caught a tadpole in the shallow water and began walking along the water’s edge.
“I felt a sharp pain on my toe,” Backus said. “I gave my friend Aubrey (Hogan) the tadpole, sat down, looked at my foot and saw a couple of little pin holes.”
